Expert Nurse Witness

I am an Expert Nurse Witness with three decades of senior clinical nursing, public health nursing, leadership and healthcare governance experience. I specialise in providing impartial, evidence-based expert opinion and medico-legal reporting in support of best practice, Fitness to Practise inquiries, safeguarding investigations, and regulatory proceedings.

My services provide an independent opinion to assist legal teams, professional regulators, and tribunals in understanding complex medical information. My reports assess, evaluate and explain nursing care standards, procedures, and patient outcomes expected under best practice guidelines, Irish law.

With an extensive background in acute and community nursing, digital health strategy, and executive clinical leadership, I bring a unique blend of on-the-ground insight and strategic oversight to expert witness work. I have held roles including Chief Clinical Officer, Assistant Director of Public Health Nursing, Clinical Nurse Manager and Clinical Practice Development Manager. My reports are used in inquiries involving allegations of professional misconduct, poor performance, or breaches of professional codes, and are prepared with full adherence to NMBI, HIQA, and legal standards.

I have received advanced training and core competency through the Expert Witness Institute covering all aspects of expert reporting, court readiness, legal compliance, and cross-examination. I continue to ensure ongoing CPD is attained though EWI and other institutes. My work is guided by a structured, legally aware approach, grounded in the principles of fairness, accuracy, and independence. I am particularly experienced in older persons care, safeguarding (adult and child), complex care governance, clinical audit, and quality assurance.
